Is it me or does that ad seem like it’s trying to help you GET A DUI? LOL.

This has always bothered me and tonight I finally stopped and figured out why it does it. I probably should have looked for this solution before since I have over 100k in fonts but tonight was the night that I finally was annoyed enough.

To fix this problem do the following:

1. Go to Edit > Preferences
2. Select Type
3. Uncheck Enable Missing Glyph Protection

Scroll your life away looking for that perfect font!

Fake Easycap Drivers For Windows 7 64 Bit and 32 Bit

If you’re like me you like to shop ebay A LOT. Well I wanted to get a cheap pin camera and a USB video capture card cheap and that’s exactly what I got at eBay. Now I knew what I was ordering was going to be cheap but I didn’t realize it was going to be fake as well. Fake meaning that there would be no more support since it’s a knock off. Anyways I ordered a EasyCap USB 2.0 Video Capture Controller. It worked great under XP but that was then and now I have Windows 7 64 Bit. I looked for HOURS going through countless posts, finding solutions that only worked for the real devices, downloading dozens of files that didn’t work until finally I found a solution.

Here are the files I used for Windows 7 64 Bit. It has 32 Bit included but I couldn’t test them since I don’t have a 32 Bit system anywhere around the house.

DOWNLOAD FILES 64 Bit and 32 Bit EasyCap Fake Controller Drivers 1.8MB RAR ( you will need something like Winrar to open it ).

What I did was simple and here are my instructions:

Download the file above.
Extract the files to your desktop for easy finding.
Go to control panel > System > Device Manager.
Find the USB controller that has a yellow explanation mark.
Double click and go to Drivers then click Update Drivers.
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Point to the folder you extracted above and click OK.

At this point windows should have found a driver and popup a message that gives a warning about the version and asks if you want to install anyways. Just hit yes. Once finished it will ask you to reboot, I think, and then you should now have a working USB 2.0 Video Controller!

To test mine I downloaded a video capture software from FileHippp that was free, small and fast which you can find HERE.

If all goes well you should be up and running! If not, well I tried but maybe you have a real EasyCap or a newer version than what I had. Either way good luck and may the force be with you! Not really sure why I said that last part…

They Claim You Get Stuff Cheap At QuiBids.com

So late last night while I was watching TV another commercial came on for QuiBids.com. I had already visited them once but thought what the hell let’s go try it out. From being a web developer I knew the concept behind the site. Basically you buy bids at around $0.50 each and then you bid on items along with other people. Let’s say you’re bidding on a Gift Cards for example and win it like I did. The final bid was around $2.00 and it was a $50 gift card. Let’s toss some math in and find out how much the company really made off that card.

Say it took me 10 bids x $0.50 = $5.00
Say 20 other people were bidding and placed 10 bids each which is 200 bids x $0.50 = $100.00
Now since I won it I have to pay the final price of $2.10 plus shipping / handling which is $1.99
Grand total I paid for this card was $9.09 (including bids), or $4.09 including shipping which is how they want you to see it.
Grand total Quibids made from this card sale is $109.09!

Was it worth it to me? Yes!
Would I do it again? Yes!
Did I do it again? Yes!

I won 3 game points which you use to win free bids, 50 additional bids and two other gift cards. In the end I came ahead since the bids I won were actually purchases. Total amount if Gift Cards I won was $85.

Now they have a LOT of other stuff, gift cards is just something I wanted to bid on. Another good thing that I noticed was on some auctions if you hit the max amount that the card is worth they stop allowing you to be on it and instead offer a Buy It Now option where you pay $1.00 less than the face value of the card but when you factor in shipping it comes to $0.99 more. It’s still a good deal because this way you’re not losing all those bids you spent by still getting the item through Buy It Now.

They also offer badges for winning, bidding and etc. Attached to those badges are extra bids. I won an extra 25 bids on badges and had fun doing it.

Would I recommend QuiBids.com to someone? Sure I would but make sure you understand what you’re bidding on and can afford to lose bids if someone else really wants the item. One example was a 40 inch TV that sold for $40.00. That’s 4000 bids at $0.50 each, totaling $2000!

Green Screen When Trying To Play Videos Online

Everything was going great and then BAAAM no more videos! While it could be anything odds are it’s one of two actual issues. The first is you need to ask yourself “did I install any kind of new video player or codecs recently?”. If the answer is yes then I would start looking there first. For me it wasn’t the first but the second issue. A quick fix for me and I’m hoping for you as well is to simply pull up a video that’s playing nothing but a green background, right click on the video, go to settings and uncheck the Hardware Acceleration box. Reload or restart your browser and see if it’s fixed!

If not, sorry I tried!

Krystal Blue Meat Specs

So the other day my wife and I were visiting Chattanooga and decided to grab something quick on the way home. After driving for a while we decided to just grab a sackful from Krystal and enjoy them on the trip home. Wrong! My first bite left me wondering what this blue object was staring back at me. I checked and over half of the hamburgers had this mystery color in them. I removed a piece of the blue and it was very rubbery but smeared at the same time between my fingers.

Knowing that this can’t be good I contacted Krystals who didn’t answer so I left a DETAILED message along with my name and call back information. What really ticks me off is they didn’t even bother to take the problem seriously and call me back. Here are some photos of what I found. You be the judge of what these mysterious blue objects could be!

Just wanted to share this in case it’s happening to you. On Fiverr if you’re sending files to a client do NOT use spaces in the file name. Fiverr is aware of this issue and is working to get it fixed but for now NO SPACES!

Example would be:
this is the name of my file.zip

It should really be something like:
this_is_the_name_of_my_file.zip or thisisthenameofmyfile.zip

So if you’re getting an error something like below it’s because of the spaces!

OK I am posting this because I spent all ******* day trying to fix a bug that’s been around for roughly 3 ******* YEARS.

If you’re trying to use eclipse to build an application, like me, then you have probably ran in to the above error when using Windows 7 64bit with 64bit Java.

I have tried a LOT of different solutions but none worked. So while reading about creating a symbolic link in windows I came up with an idea. COPY THE ANDROID FOLDER LOCATED IN YOUR Program Files (x86) FOLDER TO C:\ANDROID. Once it’s finished change the link in Eclipse (window / preferences) to the new location.

All I know is it’s working fine for me now and I HOPE this helps someone else out!

So if you’re reading this then no doubt you’re having issues. I had those same issues today after upgrading 2 phones on my account to the Droid x2, which I love, from Verizon Wireless.
Let me say that this may or may not work for you. What I can say is that it worked for both of my phones.

I had set my phone completely up before realizing my contacts did not sync with Facebook and for what ever reason there is NO sync button anymore. So after a lot of trial and errors I came up with a method that worked.

Delete your Facebook App, if you have one, and also your facebook account details from the phone. Next on your phone there should be an app pre-installed called “Social Networking”, open it and add your facebook account through that application. Once added save the account and open your contacts. If all went well then your accounts should start linking VERY VERY slowly. Just look for profile pictures to start popping up on random contacts.

This was the only way I could get it to work for me. I don’t know why but it was. Here’s to hoping it works for you!
