So today I ran into a fatal error and after looking on-line I found no real solutions. Most of the posts I read talked about a corrupt installation of WordPress and etc. I back tracked my daily activities and remembered I had ran some updates for plugins. Here is how I fixed my problem and maybe it will help you out.

FTP into your site.

Go to the PLUGINS folder.

Check the dates for last modified on each folder and find the most recently updated one.

Rename the PLUGIN to for example if it’s called Videogall, rename it to Videogall2, and save.

Try to login and again and see if the error exists.

Repeat the step renaming each plugin ONE BY ONE until you find the culprit.

If you’re like me you like to shop ebay A LOT. Well I wanted to get a cheap pin camera and a USB video capture card cheap and that’s exactly what I got at eBay. Now I knew what I was ordering was going to be cheap but I didn’t realize it was going to be fake as well. Fake meaning that there would be no more support since it’s a knock off. Anyways I ordered a EasyCap USB 2.0 Video Capture Controller. It worked great under XP but that was then and now I have Windows 7 64 Bit. I looked for HOURS going through countless posts, finding solutions that only worked for the real devices, downloading dozens of files that didn’t work until finally I found a solution.

Here are the files I used for Windows 7 64 Bit. It has 32 Bit included but I couldn’t test them since I don’t have a 32 Bit system anywhere around the house.

DOWNLOAD FILES 64 Bit and 32 Bit EasyCap Fake Controller Drivers 1.8MB RAR ( you will need something like Winrar to open it ).

What I did was simple and here are my instructions:

Download the file above.

Extract the files to your desktop for easy finding.

Go to control panel > System > Device Manager.

Find the USB controller that has a yellow explanation mark.

Double click and go to Drivers then click Update Drivers.

Click Browse my computer for driver software.

Point to the folder you extracted above and click OK.

At this point windows should have found a driver and popup a message that gives a warning about the version and asks if you want to install anyways. Just hit yes. Once finished it will ask you to reboot, I think, and then you should now have a working USB 2.0 Video Controller!

To test mine I downloaded a video capture software from FileHippp that was free, small and fast which you can find HERE.

If all goes well you should be up and running! If not, well I tried but maybe you have a real EasyCap or a newer version than what I had. Either way good luck and may the force be with you! Not really sure why I said that last part…

I use Thunderbird by Mozilla and have for years now. It is the only email program I recommend to my clients. Thunderbird isn’t without faults though with having some simple features missing the developers tend to leave a lot of functionality up to 3rd party plugin designers. Here is some of the most used plugins for Thunderbird that I couldn’t live without.

Contact Tabs

Contact Tabs enhances Thunderbird to give you quick access to all your contacts directly from Thunderbird’s main window: It opens a new tab with the contact details.

Extra Folder Columns

This extension is for those TB3 users who want the multiple-columns view that TB2 allowed.

Folderpane Tools

This extension allows for customization of the folder pane. Accounts can be rearranged and the startup folder can be chosen. A must have when you’ve got more than 1 account, I have 30+!

Mail Summaries

Adds a summary of mail accounts and folders to replace the account central pane and the empty folder preview.

Thunderbird Conversations

This addon provides a conversation view for Thunderbird, including contacts tooltips, attachment thumbnails, quick (inline) reply, integration with other addons, and much more. This is one of my favorites as I can see what I replied in previous emails without having to dig through my sent folder.

Everything was going great and then BAAAM no more videos! While it could be anything odds are it’s one of two actual issues. The first is you need to ask yourself “did I install any kind of new video player or codecs recently?”. If the answer is yes then I would start looking there first. For me it wasn’t the first but the second issue. A quick fix for me and I’m hoping for you as well is to simply pull up a video that’s playing nothing but a green background, right click on the video, go to settings and uncheck the Hardware Acceleration box. Reload or restart your browser and see if it’s fixed!

If not, sorry I tried!

If you’re trying to use eclipse to build an application, like me, then you have probably ran in to the above error when using Windows 7 64bit with 64bit Java.

I have tried a LOT of different solutions but none worked. So while reading about creating a symbolic link in windows I came up with an idea. COPY THE ANDROID FOLDER LOCATED IN YOUR Program Files (x86) FOLDER TO C:\ANDROID. Once it’s finished change the link in Eclipse (window / preferences) to the new location.

All I know is it’s working fine for me now and I HOPE this helps someone else out!

One of the many new ways to generate traffic is by Auto blogging. What is Auto blogging you may ask? Auto blogging is basically where an application or script is setup to pull in articles written by other users. Most Auto blogger applications or scripts are done by using someone else’s RSS feeds. You can use Google news for example, maybe a movie site to pull in what’s playing and etc.

The best ones I have found so far are a paid plug-in for WordPress called AutoBlogged from AutoBlogged.com. I have looked high and low on the internet and this one in my opinion is by far the best solution. Just remember it is a paid plug-in and not open source.

For Joomla there is a free component which works really well by pulling in feeds and making them articles for your site. The application used to achieve this is called Feedbingo which you can download for free at Gobingoo.com.

If you found this page because you are needing to replace your HDD in a Vostro A860 laptop…. I’m sorry.

Dell didn’t think logically when creating this laptop and that includes using a western digital drive. I can not stand western digital drives. The reason is they will die. Mark my words. They are cheap in price because they are cheaply made. This week alone I have replaced 3 laptop drives and all of them western digital. I also had to replace 2 desktop HDDs which were western digital.

Enough about the faulty drives that led you to this page. If you are looking for information on how to replace your hard drive then I will shed a little light on the subject.

First take out every GD screw you can find. This includes the 2 behind the laptop just under the screen. Once you have all the screws out take the CDROM out and remove 3 more screws. Then take off the front panel above the keyboard and remove more screws including the monitor mount screws. Then pop the keyboard out and remove dang near every screw you can find including removing the FAN. You will also have to pop the laptop frame (top and bottom) apart, be careful not to break the plastic, make sure you have ALL the screws out from the bottom of the laptop. Unplug the cable that leads from the monitor to the mother board (the video ribbon cable). The 2 power wires I left plugged up because there was no good way to unplug them. By now you have probably realized that a 2nd person would come in handy. There are a couple more ribbons to unplug but they are easy to get to. If you do not know how to unplug a ribbon cable, most of the time there is a little black bar across the top that folds back.

Once you have that done remove any other screws left, did I forget to tell you there are a LOT of screws, you will have to pull the board out at an angle so that the video adapter comes out first followed by the front sound inputs.

IF you manage to get all that done the hard drive is held on to the bottom of the mother board by yet another 2 screws. Once you remove them then you can pull out the dead WESTERN DIGITAL drive and replace it.

Good luck with remembering where the screws go! This is ONLY some information on what I just went through removing my a HDD in a Vostros A860 Laptop. Use caution and use this advice at your own risk.

While there are many different reasons why the MalwareBytes application may not load once installed, there is one however that you should be aware of, it could be because a malware infection is killing it.

How do you get around this you ask? The first and best solution that that answer is to rename the malwarebytes executable file. If you are not sure how to do this just locate the shortcut to MalwareBytes on your desktop, right click and at the bottom click properties. From the next window that opens go to the bottom and click “Open File Location”. This will take you straight to the exe file. Rename it to something like “myfile.exe” and then double click it.

If all goes well the application should start and then you can start scanning to remove those pesky problems.

Hope this helped someone as I have to use this trick weekly.

The facebook like box has been around for some time now but many site owners are not using it. It is a must in advertising in my opinion and let me tell you why. First of all Facebook is the biggest social media site on earth and you can be part of it. Now adding a like box to your site causing a chain effect. First your friends start clicking the like button which shows up in their profile, their friends see this and venture over to see your custom page at facebook dedicated to your site, they click like and all their friends see it and so forth. This drives traffic, increase traffic, alexa ranking, page rank and more.

So my question to you is why don’t you already have one?

You can read more about adding a like box to your site at Dev. Facebook. You can also get widgets for WordPress and modules for Joomla that are already coded out.
